If you filed an extension with us in a prior year, One Click Extension (OCE) lets you reuse your previous filing information instead of entering it again.
- Sign in to your account and locate the option to file another extension using your previous information.
- Review the prefilled taxpayer and filing details, and make any necessary corrections.
- Proceed to checkout. If a saved payment card is available, you may use it; otherwise enter a new payment method.
- Confirm and complete payment. We transmit the extension to the IRS only after the service-fee payment succeeds, generally within five minutes and sometimes immediately.
- Check My Tax Filings for the IRS status. Transmission does not guarantee IRS acceptance.
If a saved card is expired or declined, enter another payment method at checkout and complete payment. A declined service-fee payment does not result in an IRS transmission.
Checkout payment options include credit or debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, and Venmo, depending on the options presented at checkout.
An extension provides additional time to file your return, not additional time to pay taxes owed.
