How do I print or download my tax extension?

Which situation are you in?

I chose the free print-and-mail option — printing is your filing step. You still need to sign and mail the form to the IRS for it to count as filed.

I already eFiled — you're just downloading a copy for your records. Your extension is already filed either way.

Getting your PDF

  1. Log into your account and go to Tax Filings.
  2. Find the card for the extension you need (Personal, Business, or State).
  3. Click Download PDF right on that card.

If your extension was eFiled and accepted, the same card shows the Accepted by IRS badge, the acceptance date, your new deadline, and your IRS Submission ID — no need to click into a separate page. You can also use View Acceptance Email or Resend Email on that card if you need another copy sent to you.

If you're printing to mail it yourself

Sign the form before mailing it, and make sure you're sending it to the correct address. Chat with Support if you're unsure where to send it.

Still can't find your PDF? Chat with Support and we'll help you locate it.
