How to file an extension for a single member LLC?

Modified on Tue, 20 Dec, 2022 at 2:16 PM

A single member LLC is an LLC with one owner. The business income or loss is reported on Schedule C of IRS Form 1040 as part of your Personal Tax Return.

You can extend the filing deadline of a single member LLC by filing a personal tax extension by the filing deadline, typically April 15th (unless it falls on the weekend or a holiday).  The extension will give you an additional 6 months to file the return.

Note:  Any taxes owed are still due on the filing deadline of April 15th.
