How to file an extension for a single member LLC?

Modified on Mon, 19 Jan at 1:59 PM

A single member LLC is an LLC with one owner. The business income or loss is reported on Schedule C of IRS Form 1040 as part of your Personal Tax Return.  You can extend the filing deadline of a single member LLC by filing a personal tax extension (IRS form 4868) by the filing deadline, typically April 15th (unless it falls on the weekend or a holiday).  The extension will give you an additional 6 months to file the return.  While the extension gives you more time to file your return, any taxes owed are still due on the filing deadline of April 15th.
