If your EasyTaxReturns DIY tax return shows “Rejected by IRS,” open the existing return and follow the correction instructions provided inside.
1. Sign in to EasyTaxReturns
Go to file.easytaxreturns.com and sign in to the account you used to prepare your DIY tax return.
2. Find the rejected return
On your Dashboard, choose the correct year from the Tax Year menu.
Select the Tax Returns tab. Find the return marked Rejected by IRS.
Open your existing return. Do not select “Start a New Tax Return” to correct the rejected filing.
3. Open your return
Click the question-mark (?) icon at the far right of the rejected return’s row, beside Review Tax Return. This takes you into your return.
If more than one return appears, make sure you open the entry for the tax year and return you need to correct.
4. Follow the correction instructions inside
Once you access your return, review the rejection explanation and the corrective action outlined there.
Follow those directions and update the information identified in your return. The required correction depends on the rejection, so use the instructions shown for your specific filing.
5. Submit the corrected return and check its status
After completing the corrections, follow the instructions inside your return to submit it again. Saving changes alone does not resubmit your return.
Check back for the updated filing result. If the return is rejected again, reopen it and review the new instructions.
Need help?
Select Support at the top of the EasyTaxReturns dashboard if you cannot access your return or need help following the directions.
Include the tax year and a description of where you are stuck. If you share a screenshot, hide any personal or financial information.
Do not send your password, full SSN, IP PIN, bank information, or full card number through ordinary chat or email.
Is this for a rejected tax extension?
No. These steps apply to an EasyTaxReturns DIY tax return shown under Tax Returns.
If your rejected filing is under Personal Extensions or Business Extensions, use the instructions for that extension instead.
