How do I check whether the IRS accepted my tax extension?

Sign in and select My Tax Filings. Find your Personal or Business extension for the correct tax year.

• Accepted by IRS: The IRS accepted your extension. You can view your filing details and proof of acceptance.
• Pending: The extension was submitted, but the IRS has not responded yet. Most responses arrive within minutes.
• Rejected: The IRS did not accept your extension. Open the filing to see why and select Correct and Resubmit.
• Draft: The extension has not been submitted to the IRS.

You can use View Acceptance Email or Resend Email for an accepted filing.

If your extension has been Pending for more than one hour, contact Support. Do not submit another extension while it is Pending.
