Can I get a refund if I filed a duplicate tax extension?

Modified on Tue, 13 Oct at 7:45 PM

If another extension was already accepted by the IRS, the IRS may reject a second extension as a duplicate.

If the extension purchased from us was rejected by the IRS as a duplicate, contact Support to request a refund.

If the IRS accepted the extension purchased from us, the filing is generally not refundable, even if you later learn you did not need it.

If your card appears to have been charged twice, check whether both charges have posted. A temporary authorization and a completed payment can appear separately. If two separate charges have posted, contact Support for review.

Filing your tax return after buying an extension does not cancel an accepted extension or make it refundable.
