If the IRS rejects your extension because of payment verification, sign in to My Tax Filings, open the rejected filing, and select Correct and Resubmit.
Correct the IRS payment verification information, or remove the IRS payment and associated bank details and resubmit the extension. You may pay the IRS separately through its official payment options. Removing the IRS payment does not remove your obligation to pay taxes by the payment deadline.
IRS acceptance is not guaranteed. The IRS withdraws the bank payment submitted with an extension only if the extension is accepted. The five-calendar-day perfection period, when applicable, runs from the original applicable filing deadline, not the rejection date. Contact Support if you need help correcting the rejection.
