What is the deadline to file for a Business Tax Extension?

Modified on Tue, 20 Dec, 2022 at 2:17 PM

Tax extension requests for businesses must be filed no later than the date your tax return is due, typically March 15th (if March 15th falls on a weekend, your extension will be due on either March 17th or 18th).   Your extension must be either postmarked for a paper filing, electronically made via DirectPay or eFiled through an IRS Authorized eFile Provider, such as us.

Helpful hint: if you find that you haven’t filed your return or extension by the deadline, you should still attempt to eFile an extension through us. The IRS continues to accept extensions until 5 days after the filing deadline. This is to allow for taxpayers to correct errors in their extension submissions. The chances are the IRS will accept your extension, even if it’s transmitted late. If they reject your extension as being late, we will refund your fee.
