Why should I eFile a business tax extension (Form 7004)?

Modified on Sun, 19 Jan at 5:24 PM

By eFiling your business tax extension, you will extend your return filing deadline by 6 months and you will receive notification that your extension was received and approved by the IRS within minutes.  If your tax extension is rejected for any reason, you will have the opportunity to correct any errors and resubmit it to the IRS, at no additional charge, for a full 5 days after the filing deadline.

Keep in mind, if you mail IRS Form 7004 to the IRS, you will never be notified as to whether your extension was approved. In the event your extension is rejected, in almost every case, that notification won't come until long after the filing deadline has passed.
