IRS Form 7004 (Application for Automatic Extension of Time To File Certain Business Income Tax, Information, and Other Returns) is the form used to request a 6 month extension of the deadline to file certain business tax returns.
The deadline to file the form is March 15, 2023. If the IRS accepts and approves the extension, taxpayers then have until September 15, 2023 to prepare their taxes.
The approved extension allows for additional time to prepare and file tax returns, it does not provide additional time to pay any taxes owed.
