Is it too late to file a tax extension?

Modified on Mon, 8 Jun at 12:10 PM

Almost certainly not — and here's why: the IRS accepts tax extensions well past the stroke of midnight, even well past midnight in Hawaii. That means if you're in New York and it's 5 AM, your extension will still go through without incident.

We know that's hard to believe. Most people are convinced the deadline is midnight wherever they are, and it's simply not true.

File now. And if for any reason the IRS rejects your extension as too late, we'll refund your fee in full — no questions asked.
