Taxpayer EIN in the Return Header must not be the same as an EIN of a previously accepted electronic return for the return type and tax period and Type of Return Code indicated for the tax return type. Element : EIN

Explanation:

The IRS has indicated that an extension or tax return has been previously submitted and accepted under this EIN. This often happens when a company bookkeeper or accountant has filed an extension on your behalf. Please verify with the accountants that may have helped you submit returns in the past years and make sure you get a proof from them for the extension they have submitted on your behalf.

There is no further action required from you to be done on our site, but please also keep on record the details of this submission in case for future reference.

Form 7004, the tax year ending date ('TaxPeriodEndDt' specified in the Return Header) must match the data in the e-file database unless one of the checkboxes in Line 5b - "Initial Return", "Final Return" or "Consolidated return to be filed" is checked.

Explanation:

The date you entered for your business Tax Year End Date does not match IRS records. (This error code is commonly triggered by newly formed businesses. If this is the first year you are filing taxes for your business, then your business will be based on a calendar year for tax purposes. Therefore, you should enter your Business Tax Year as ‘Beginning’ on the date your business was formed, and ‘Ending’ on Dec. 31, 2019. You must also check the box that indicates this is your first year filing taxes for your business. Additionally, you must select ‘Initial Return’ from the dropdown list as the reason your tax year is less than 12 months.) If your business has filed taxes before, you should double-check if your tax year is different than the calendar year. Please review your 7004 extension application to make sure that your Business Tax Year Information has been entered correctly. If you believe that the information you provided is correct, you will need to contact the IRS Business & Specialty Services helpline at 1-800-829-4933 to confirm their official records.

In Form 7004, Line 1, 'ExtensionReturnCd' the return for which the extension is filed must match the return type established with the IRS for the EIN.

Explanation:

These are database validation errors which cannot be corrected by us. You are either entering the wrong type of corporate entity in your tax extension or maybe IRS has you down with the wrong type of entity in their records. What happens for certain, is that you believe you are registered as one type of entity and they have in their records something else and they reject you because what you send does not match their records.

Often, this is because you filed as an S corporation and the IRS has no record of you making an S Corporation election. Making this election is a separate and time consuming process that takes several weeks. To get your extension approved now, it may be worth re-submitting as a C corporation and then following up with the IRS on the S election.
