Although the IRS does not require your mobile phone number to process your extension, we strongly encourage customers to provide it in the event we have an urgent need to reach you.

Additionally, providing your cell phone number enables us to send you SMS updates and/or reminders related to your tax extensions (opt-in is required at checkout).

Phone numbers are used for no other purpose than contacting you as described here and are not shared with the IRS.
